The Crown of Polish Mountains
Date added: 2009-07-08 12:38:26
Some want to bungy jump, others to have a sports car and the Polish mountains lovers’ dream is to reach the top trophy – the Crown of Polish Mountains. Under this name hides a list of 28 peaks of the main Polish mountain ranges. However, there are accounted only those peaks, which can be reached along the marked hiking trail.
From the Love to the Mountains
The Crown of Polish Mountains can be reached in various ways - on foot, by bike or on skis. Therefore, let us remember that the mountains are beautiful any season of the year and another trips is a matter of proper mindset, physical preparation, and clothing. Since the Crown of The Polish Mountains are peaks, which we reach along hiking trails, the Bialskie Mountains and the Golden Mountains areas are not accounted into the list.
Key in all this is a love for the “tramping” in the mountains. Then every reached summit brings satisfaction and joy, and memories are priceless. Some of the peaks are close to others and therefore climbing all of them does not need to take a long time. Planning your route in advance, it can be for active people an interesting way to spend a holiday. It is worth adding that just in the mountains we forget about all the hustle and zeal in which we live. When we are on the next summit, we do not think that there is waiting for us a whole bunch of emails, which should be replied, a few phone calls that we should do, or next conversation with our boss. By placing successive peaks maybe we do not rest physically but certainly mentally, and by the way, we can boast of a membership in the Club of the Summiteers of the Crown of Polish Mountains.
A Breath of History
The idea originated in the minds of Dr. Marek Więckowski and Dr. Wojciech Lewandowski and was presented in 1997 in the journal “Poznaj swój kraj” (“Know Your Country”) and 13th December 1997, the idea was approved by the editors of newspaper. This date is also the date of coming into existence the Club of the Summiteers of the Crown of Polish Mountains.
As we know, the most popular among the Polish mountains are the Tatras, therefore the idea of originators of the Crown of Polish Mountains was to relieve this region, and the popularization of other mountain areas in Poland. Moreover, thanks to the trips to various mountain ranges are promoted less-known regions. It allows for a better understanding of history, nature, geography and culture of the place.
Join the Club
The club gather people who only intend to reach the Crown of Polish Mountains and so-called “summiteers”. Both the first and the second group has the right to have emblem of the club, which is not available for non-members. The club also publishes The Booklet of the Crown of Polish Mountains – unlike the emblem it can be obtained by everyone – even non-members who intend to acquire 28 peaks, which can be reached by hiking trails. This booklet is very important for this reason that documents every entry on the crown peaks!
Club on June 22, 2009 r. brings together 4.300 members, including 290 people who have already reached the Crown of Polish Mountains. Among members is 7-time summiteer of the Crown of Polish Mountains, the quickest and winter summtiteer. Details of the Club are available at kgp.amos.waw.pl.
How to Become a Summiteer of the Crown of Polish Mountains?
You should just reach 28 mountain peaks (the list given below). First of all, we do it for ourselves and for our own satisfaction! But of course this can be documented and we can occur in the list of summiteers. To do this, we have to join the Club of Summiteers of the Crown of Polish Mountains filling in the declaration available on the website of the club, and then during the club event we get the name “Summiteer”. It is important that before starting the adventure with the Crown of Polish Mountains, we should get the Club Booklet, which documentes the reaching of the individual peaks. If we want to appear on the list of summiteers, we must collect various types of evidence to prove each point gained. These can be photos, chronicles, short films, etc. These source materials are presented to the Lodge of Summiteers, which approve reaching by us these peaks. Only then we can receive a certificate and emblem of Summiteer of the Crown of Polish Mountains.
